J.C.I. Creed

WE BELIEVE:

bullet

that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;

bullet

that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;

bullet

that economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;

bullet

that government should be of laws rather than of men;

bullet

that earths great treasure lies in human personality;

bullet

and that service to humanity is the best work of life.

NOUS CROYONS:

bullet

que la foi en Dieu donne à la vie son véritable sens;

bullet

que la fraternité humaine a préséance sur la souveraineté des nations;

bullet

que la liberté des individus et de l'entreprise assurera mieux la justice économique;

bullet

que l'autorité doit s'appuyer sur la loi et non sur l'arbitraire;

bullet

que la personne humaine est la plus précieuse des richesses;

bullet

que servir l'humanité constitue l'oeuvre la plus noble d'une vie.

THE HISTORY OF THE CREED

The J.C.I. Creed was written by C. William Brownfield in 1946. Adopted by the Canada Junior Chamber of Commerce and Jaycees International, this simple statement of beliefs unites Jaycees around the world in a bond of friendship and purpose. These 65 words have become the third most important document in the lives of many, many people worldwide.
